The Ford Quadricycle was the first vehicle developed by Henry Ford. Ford's first car was a simple frame with an ethanol-powered engine and four bicycle wheels mounted on it.[3]
The earliest cars were hand built, one by one, and very expensive. The peculiar machines were seen as toys for the rich.[3]
In the 1890s, the "horseless carriage" was a relatively new idea, with
no one having a fixed, universal idea of what a car should look like or
how it should work. Most of the first car builders were inventors,
rather than businessmen, working with their imaginations and the parts
they had on hand.[3]
Thus, the invention of the Quadricycle marks an important innovation as
a proto-automobile that would lay the foundation for future, more
practical designs to follow.
On June 4, 1896 in a tiny workshop behind his home on 58 Bagley Street,[2]
Ford put the finishing touches on his pure ethanol-powered motor car.
After more than two years of experimentation, Ford, at the age of 32,
had completed his first experimental automobile.
He dubbed his creation the "Quadricycle," so named because it ran on
four bicycle tires, and/or because of the means through which the engine
drove the back wheels.[4]
The two cylinder engine could produce 4 horsepower.[6] The Quadricycle was driven by a chain. The transmission only had two gears (first for 10 mph (16 km/h), 2nd for 20 mph (32 km/h)) and did not have a reverse gear.
The tiller-steered machine had wire wheels and a 3 US gal (11 L) fuel tank under the seat.[2] Ford test drove it on June 4, 1896, after various test drives, achieving a top speed of 20 mph (32 km/h).[2] Ford would later go on to found the Ford Motor Company and become one of the world's richest men.[3]
1896-1901 "Ford sold his first Quadricycle* for
$200 in 1896 to Charles Ainsley. He later built two more Quadricycles:
one in 1899, and another in 1901. He eventually bought his first one
back for $60.[1] (according to Ford Museum records)

Most Americans HAVE NO CLUE that the Federal Reserve is a PRIVATE, FOR
PROFIT CORPORATION! DON'T BELIEVE ME, LOOK IT UP FOR YOURSELF AND DO
SOMETHING ABOUT IT!
JFK, Ron Paul, Woodrow Wilson, Milton Friedman,
Ronald Reagan, and many others have spoken against the horrible Federal
Reserve system we now have which is unnecessary because our government
can print the money without paying interest to the private for profit
Federal Reserve. While our government can print money for free, the
people who own the private Federal Reserve have made trillions off of
creating the US money.
They loan money to the US government at interest,
when our government could print it without them for free. JFK tried to
get rid of the Federal Reserve by printing United States Notes because
he realized that if private super rich bankers own the Federal Reserve
and they loan money to the government, they essentially own the
government.
The Federal Reserve is the MAJOR reason why this country has
declined financially! The Federal Reserve can be abolished and the
government can do the same thing by printing money with United States
Notes instead of the Federal Reserve Notes. This will save the country
trillions! Watch documentaries like "Money Masters" or "Freedom to
Fascism" for more detailed info on the BIGGEST FINANCIAL SCAM ON THE
AMERICAN PEOPLE in History!
The Federal Reserve is THE MAJOR REASON why
the poor is increasing in numbers and the rich continue to get richer!

STORY: It's certainly a
head-turner. Whizzing around the streets of Berlin - this is the
"ErockIT". Half-bicycle, half-motorbike, Stefan Gulas has been working
on his invention for the past four years:
[Stefan Gulas, ErockIT Inventor]: "It's
a motorbike and in a certain sense it's also a bicycle, because the
motorbike works as a bicycle. So you have to pedal in order to travel
forwards. The pedals act as a type of accelerator. So you don't have an
accelerator on the handlebars but you have to pedal. And the quicker you
pedal the faster the motor goes."
And this pedaling also charges
up the bike's battery. Gulas is convinced the ErockIT - which can
travel up to 80 kilometers, or almost 50 miles an hour, is a transport
revolution.
[Stefan Gulas, ErockIT Inventor]: "The thing I'm
most proud of is that we've managed to make a cool electric vehicle.
There are lots of vehicles with petrol engines that are cool - you just
need to go and take a look at them, Ducatis or cars like Porsches and
Ferraris. They're cool vehicles, but they all have petrol engines."
The bike may have the looks. But it seems people don't quite know what to make of it.
[Martin Alridge, Likes ErockIT]: "From
the speed, I'd say it's a motorbike, but he pedals it, so it's a push
bike. So it's a bicycle. But an amazing thing, absolutely amazing. I
want one."
The others who want one should be prepared to dig deep into their pockets.
An
"ErockIT" costs 30-thousand euros - or around 44-thousand U.S. dollars -
and customers have to put down 25 000 euros when they place an order.
For his part - Gulas says he expects the bike will appeal to creative, successful, people.
Drawing
the its name and inspiration from the early days of plane aviation, The
Suzuki's Biplane was designed to give the rider a sensation of flight
and an increased sense of freedom.
The Biplane design uses a V-4
engine with a girder fork in the front and rim mounted disc brakes. The
cylinder heads and exhaust headers are visible on the rear sides which
mimics the design of the classic airplane. The exhuast is hidden under
the cowling and the link-type rear suspension can be seen just below the
seat.
A futuristic display panel is built into the top of the
bike instead of conventional meters and since this is only a concept
bike there are no plans for commercialization as of yet.
Commuter Recumbent Electric Tricycle-Final year project
Uploaded on Jan 30, 2010
This was our final year Mechanical
Eng. Design Project at Government College of Engineering, Aurangabad,
India. We designed and manufactured a three wheeled vehicle which can
be driven either electrically or with the help of pedals. It travels
around 40Km/charge & takes about 1-1.5 units/charge . It attained
max speed of 35km/hr at 100 kg load(rider + vehicle load).
